CYNTHIA TARQUINO CARPENTER

CHILDREN’S BOOK AUTHOR

Portrait of Young Woman Outdoors

about THE AUTHOR

Cynthia grew up in New Haven, Connecticut, in a difficult home with two parents, five siblings, and a very strict Italian grandfather who lived two houses down from them. Their grandfather made their parents drop her and her siblings off at church every Sunday morning until they made their "Holy Communion and Holy Confirmation.”

What she learned in the Catholic church gave her hope to continue in life, no matter the negative circumstances. It also made her aware that God was real and loved her unconditionally, a belief that has carried her into the present.

At the age of twelve, her parents divorced. She wrote poems during her childhood to comfort herself. She also talked to God, knowing He existed even though she was not sure who He was. This is why she is passionate about teaching children at a very young age who Jesus is and how to have a personal relationship with Him.

Cynthia has lived in Kings Mountain, North Carolina, since 1978 with her husband Keith. They have three sons, Michael, Joshua, and Adam.

about THE ILLUSTRATOR

Born and raised in Texas, Olivia Orr’s love for art began at a young age when she dreamed of illustrating children’s books. She started with drawing and watercolor and then moved on to oil and sculpture in college, where she studied Studio Art at the University of North Texas.

A few years ago, she dove back into watercolor while she was pregnant with her first baby. After asking Jesus to awaken new creativity through her art, she soon realized her passion for illustrating in watercolor and painted a series of animals for her firstborn. Those animals are how Olivia illustrated her first children’s book the following year. This book is Olivia’s first taste of seeing her dream come to life.

Olivia currently resides in Colorado with her husband and two daughters.
